Unless cell phones emit some particular frequency that is in resonance with some crucial mode in the corn, I think this is BS. Do watch and tell me what you think. And if you google, there are a whole number of people doing this experiment apparently.

Cell phones operate in MHz frequency range only. Popping popcorn( we need microwave)in GHz range. Its BS!
That is why I called it BS too bhup, for the cell phone is out of range of water vibrational excitation (microwave). But I was not as emphatic as you just because I was not sure if there were other molecules in significant quantities enough that excite at the right frequency to do the job. Unlikely for sure but....you know...
This may be a silly question, but - didn't you want to try it out to see for yourself? :)
I would tangled, the next time I have access to the multiple cell phones I need and of course some popping corn...
